To help the government fight the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities, the USA PATRIOT Act requires all financial institutions to legally obtain, verify and record information, identifying each person who opens an account.

What this means for you: When you open an account, we will ask you for your legal name, place of residence, mailing address, date of birth, social security number and other information that will allow us to identify you. We also request your driver’s license and/or other identifying documents.

1. Who can join Solidarity Community Federal Credit Union?

Anyone who lives, works, worships, or attends school in our field of membership — including Howard, Tipton, Miami, Cass, Carroll, Clinton, and White Counties — is eligible to join. Immediate family members of existing members are also welcome.

2. What do I need to open an account?

You’ll need a valid form of ID (such as a driver’s license or passport) and proof of your current address. A minimum opening deposit may also be required, depending on the account type.

3. Is joining a credit union better than using a bank?

4. Do I have to switch all my accounts to join?
