Please Update Your Contact Information!

Solidarity is taking debit card security to the next level with

One-Time Passwords (OTP)

At Solidarity, your safety and peace of mind matter to us. That’s why, starting May 1, 2025, we’ll begin using One-Time Passwords (OTP) for certain higher-risk online card transactions. This added layer of protection is part of a cooperative effort with our card processor to ensure your online shopping experience stays simple and secure. When a transaction is flagged as higher risk, you’ll receive a One-Time Passcode via email and text using the contact information we have on file with your card profile. It’s important to keep your contact information up to date to ensure you receive your passcode without delay.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Why is Solidarity adding One-Time Passcodes (OTPs) to some online transactions?
Research shows that OTPs significantly reduce fraud and improve the member experience. Without OTP, high-risk transactions are often declined. With OTP, members can securely verify their identity and complete the transaction directly on the merchant’s site or app.

What happens without OTP?

  • High-risk purchases may be declined, causing frustration and missed opportunities.
  • Lower authentication success can increase fraud and reduce member confidence.

What are the benefits of OTP at Solidarity?

  • Secure & Simple: Quickly verify your purchase—no need to call or wait.
  • Reduced Fraud: Credit unions using OTP have seen up to 60% fewer fraud losses.
  • Industry-Aligned: Follows best practices in fraud prevention and member security.
  • Fewer Declines: Legitimate transactions go through more smoothly, with less support needed.

Can members opt out?
No. Because OTP is a required security measure, opting out is not available.
